Heritage of Water: Traditional Water Systems in the Arab World

How has water carved and transformed the cultural landscapes of the Arab region? Join ARC-WH and its partners as they discuss the life-sustaining ecosystems of oases in the Arab world and the ancient Aflaj irrigation systems that continue to sustain villages and towns in Oman. The Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage will be joined by ICOMOS and IPOGEA Traditional Knowledge Research Centre as they discuss cultural heritage of water and traditional water systems in the Arab region. The panel discussions will be followed by an exhibition featuring 'Oasis Landscapes' on Tuesday, 26 June 2018 from 13:00-15:00 at the UNESCO Village, the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Bahrain in context of the 42nd World Heritage Committee.
